My First Q&A!

Q&A Time!

I just realized I've never posted a Q&A for you guys! (SORRYYY!) I wanted to answer some of the questions I frequently get asked and allow you guys to get to know me better. I tried to generalize the questions to answer multiple questions in one - efficiency at its finest. If I missed yours or you didn't get a chance to ask- leave a comment below and I'll answer there.

Here it goes :)

How old are you? How tall are you?

24 and 5'8" and a half ;)

What ethnicity are you?

I recently have been asked this question so so much. I usually turn the question around and ask what do you think I am, just to see what the other person is thinking. I have gotten Armenian and Russian a lot but I don't see it at all! (Maybe the brows?!) But, I am German, Italian and Danish.

How/When/Why did you start your blog?

While studying Apparel Design and Merchandising at San Francisco State University I had to do research for a project primarily revolving around influencers and social media – so long story short, I thought to myself I can do what they are doing and I started by blog in December of 2014 and launched in April 2015. I have learned so much in the last 2 years that my blog has been up, and I am so happy I made the choice to launch my own blog!

Who takes your blog photos?

In the early days of my blog I had my roommate Kiana take most of my photos. My parents have also stepped in to shoot me when needed as well. Fast forward about a year later to when I met River. We started shooting every weekend – and now he’s my boyfriend. He has also helped me learn a lot about photography because I frequently shoot him for his blog as well. Check his blog out here:

What camera do you shoot with?

Currently, I am (for the most part) shooting with a Canon T6i with either a EF 50mm f/1.4 Lens or an EF 85mm f/1.8. Frequently, River and I will rent different lenses if we are going on trips or if we are planning long shooting weekends. When we went to Chicago we rented the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II zoom lens and loved it! Next weekend we are going to be shooting with the mirrorless Sony A7ii and I am stoked to use a new body! I also always have my iPhone on me as well and surprisingly my 6+ takes amazing photos (although I am wanting the iPhone 7). Most of my brunch and food photos are done with my iPhone.

Where do you take your photos?

After the first of the year of blogging I decided that I needed to evaluate my aesthetic. So with that, I decided to post photos with a similar background to create a better overall flow. I now primarily shoot in Beverly Hills because the streets are clean and the walls are picture perfect. That’s where the famous marble wall is that I get so many questions about. If I am traveling I will scout an area that will work well with my feed and either that works or I will have to edit the background to flow.

How do you edit your photos?

This is the most time consuming part of blogging, especially for bloggers just starting out. It took me over a year to finally figure out my editing style and I am still evolving. I concurrently use Lightroom and Photoshop on my laptop mainly for my blog photos. I have presets that I have created over time saved in Lightroom and that helps out tremendously with a consistency and time. For Instagram, I use a couple of apps to make sure my photo matches my feed. I usually use Snapseed, Lightroom (App) and UNUM. I mainly just play around with the settings such as exposure, contrast and saturation, then upload to UNUM and make sure it goes with my feed.

*I am super willing to create a blog and/or tutorial on 'How I Edit My Instagram Photos' because I get asked this all the time now that my feed has a certain aesthetic. Let me know if that's something you're interested in!

Is blogging your full time job?

Technically yes. I have a "normal job", but I consider blogging a full time job as well. I think my blog takes more effort and time compared to any other job I have ever had.

How do you stay so fit?

The daily treat yourself vs #SUMMERBOD struggle! I go to the gym usually Monday-Friday, unless I am traveling or have event at night. I like to switch it up so I usually workout whatever I am in the mood for. Sometimes I will do an hour of cardio, sometimes no cardio. It all depends on how my body is feeling. I usually take Saturday and Sunday off from the gym but I love staying active! A weekend hike is a nice alternative from the gym and I recently have become addicted to SoulCycle - so you can catch me cycling on the weekends too! I also try to eat healthy - it's all about balance. Right?

What do you do for fun?

I love traveling, going to museums, brunching, beaching, visiting Disneyland (River and I have annual passes!), and the occasional night out grabbing drinks and dancing with friends. I am not one to stay at home and do nothing - I get that from my Momma!

I think that's it for now - if I missed any questions or if you want to ask anything else, leave a comment below! <3
